Step 1
Install Phantom
Download Options:
- Browser Extension: Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge
- Mobile App: iOS and Android
Installation Steps:
- Go to phantom.app (type directly!)
- Click "Download" and select your browser/platform
- Install the extension or app
- Pin Phantom to your browser toolbar for easy access

Step 2
Create Your Wallet
- Click the Phantom icon
- Select "Create a new wallet"
- Write down your 12-word recovery phrase
- Store recovery phrase securely (paper, not digital!)
- Confirm by selecting words in order
- Create a password for this device
- Complete setup!
Recovery Phrase = Your Crypto
Write it on paper, never digitally. Anyone with these 12 words can steal everything. Phantom will NEVER ask for it.
Security Settings to Enable:
- Set auto-lock timer (5 min recommended)
- Enable biometrics on mobile
- Review trusted apps regularly
Step 3
Add SOL & Tokens
Getting SOL into Phantom:
- Click "Receive" or copy your Solana address
- Buy SOL on an exchange (Coinbase, Binance, FTX)
- Withdraw to your Phantom address
- Wait 1-2 minutes for confirmation
Or Buy Directly in Phantom:
- Click "Buy"
- Choose payment provider (MoonPay, etc.)
- Enter amount and complete purchase
Adding SPL Tokens:
Phantom auto-detects most tokens. For custom tokens:
- Click the plus icon in token list
- Search for token or paste mint address
- Add to wallet
Solana Is Fast & Cheap
Transactions cost ~$0.00025 and confirm in ~400ms. You can make thousands of transactions for pennies. Much cheaper than Ethereum!

Connecting to dApps:
- Go to the dApp website
- Click "Connect Wallet"

Verify Before Connecting
Only connect to trusted sites. Check URLs carefully. Solana has many scam sites just like Ethereum.
Staking SOL in Phantom:
- Click your SOL balance
- Click "Start earning SOL"
- Choose stake amount
- Phantom auto-selects good validators
- Confirm and stake!
